The following guest post is from our partners and client Power Digital Marketing on how they leverage the unique features of the seoClarity Enterprise platform to overcome the challenge of large scale SEO management. Post your thoughts, comments below!

As an agency specializing in SEO, our team at Power Digital Marketing has come across countless numbers of tools claiming to be the “premier” tool for keyword research, rank tracking, competitor analysis, etc. But after a few years in the biz we’ve learned that most of these tools only talk the talk. Only a small number actually walk the walk (excuse the cliche). As you may have guessed, one of these awesome tools is seoClarity.

With its customizable dashboards, powerful keyword tracking, and actionable competitive insights, seoClarity’s software has become ingrained in our own internal SEO processes. From content brainstorming to keyword management to competitor analysis, seoClarity helps us reach our number one goal of driving relevant traffic to our clients’ websites. Not only does its software play a key role in specific steps of our processes, but our SEOs rely on seoClarity as an ongoing resource for deeper insights into our clients’ campaigns, allowing us to improve our processes and continue providing our clients with palpable results.

Feel like you’re not taking full advantage of all that seoClarity has to offer? Here’s how we utilize seoClarity’s unique platform to take our clients’ SEO game to the next level:

Keyword Management

Rank Clarity:

Ranking for the right keywords can make or break your website. It’s as simple as that. So, it shouldn’t be a huge surprise that our SEO department spends a considerable portion of its time conducting comprehensive keyword research in order to find appropriate keywords for each of our clients. This is a proprietary internal process that we call “keyword mapping” in which we perform keyword research and choose our main target keywords and web pages based on monthly search volume and the competitive landscape on Page 1 of SERPs. This allows us to only focus on the keywords that people are searching for and that our client can rank for, saving time and accelerating results.

Once we narrow down our keywords and complete our keyword map, we input the page URL and keywords into the Rank Clarity tool on seoClarity. Any SEO or marketing agency knows how tedious it can be to track hundreds of keywords for each of its clients. seoClarity solves this problem. Our SEOs simply input the chosen keywords from the keyword map into the software so that they can be automatically managed and tracked by seoClarity. Now we can gain valuable insights such as our clients’ highest ranking URLs, average search volume by keyword, and change in keyword rankings.

Next, we assign our managed keywords into a Tag. This allows us to combine multiple keywords and analyze them as a group. For example, if we are working on an eCommerce site, we might tag by product category. Let’s say we are doing SEO for a sports equipment company. One category or “tag” may be Baseball Equipment. Keywords such as “baseball gear” or “baseball helmets” may be assigned to this tag for a clearer picture of SEO performance.

Trend Line:

While managing and tracking keywords is extremely important to the internal SEO process, it means nothing unless you can prove that it is working. This is where one of our favorite new features of seoClarity comes in - the Trend Line. This relatively new feature provides SEOs with historical keyword trend data to highlight our client’s progress in the SERP rankings.

seoClarity is the only SEO keyword tracking tool we’ve used at Power Digital that is able to give us historical trend data for day, week, and month.

That’s right, you can analyze your progress from month to month or even day to day based on the client’s needs.

We like to utilize insights from the Trend Line during client reporting. Exporting the trend data is great for data visualization. The color code shows the changes in SERP position to demonstrate your client’s improvement throughout time as shown below. This creates a very powerful visual that resonates with clients and proves that our internal processes really work.

Competitive Analysis

One of the first steps in the SEO process is identifying competitors. Not only will this accurately identify your SEO targets, but will also provide fundamental input into your overall strategy. This is why one of the first questions we ask new clients is who their main competitors are. After that initial meeting, we input our clients’ competitors into seoClarity in order to streamline the competitive analysis process. seoClarity also pulls other competitors they feel we should be looking at to form a comprehensive list of competitors.

The first step of our competitive analysis process is using the Competitive Gaps feature in seoClarity to identify easily attainable keyword opportunities and find gaps where our clients’ competitors are performing better. This feature shows us two important things:

  • How many keywords our client and competitors have moved up on the SERPs
  • If our clients’  or competition’s keywords are dropping or rising in the SERPs

Next, we use the information provided in from the Competitive Gaps feature to identify our clients’ universal competitors that are increasing in organic search volume or trends to perform an in-depth analysis. To perform a keyword analysis, our SEOs go back to the Rank Clarity feature. Here, we simply type in the universal competitor that is trending to access every keyword that competitor is ranking for under “Keywords Competing”. This allows us to identify keywords that our competitors used to move from Page 2 to Page 1 and assess if that keyword may provide an opportunity for our client to rank as well.

This is a huge benefit to us because it gives us keyword target direction in arenas we may have not considered otherwise. It also allows us to set short- and long-term expectations for keyword rankings based on how competitive the keywords are and how much search volume we get. Using these keywords from the competitive analysis, we can perform some on-page optimization on our clients’ sites or brainstorm some new blog content. We use this tool when we first bring an account onto seoClarity as well as for monthly or quarterly maintenance so we don’t lose sight of what our competitors are doing and are able to make adjustments accordingly.

Domain vs. Domain Keyword Comparison

One of the most important tools in seoClarity that we use on a monthly basis is the domain vs. domain keyword comparison feature. This tool allows us to identify common rankings between our clients’ websites and their competitors while also identifying keywords that our competitors’ website ranks for and our clients’ do not. This is extremely helpful as it brings to light keyword targeting opportunities that we may have not thought of or that were not returned through our keyword research tools. The ultimate end benefit of this awesome feature is the ability to gain more relevant keyword insights that we can use to expand the keyword set that our client is targeting and ranks for, which supports our primary goal of driving more traffic to their site. Our SEOs typically start using this feature in month three of a campaign and is usually repeated on a monthly basis to ensure that we stay on top of all keyword targeting opportunities for our clients.

Website Crawls on Larger Sites

seoClarity is one of the only tools we have come across that is able to crawl large enterprise-level sites down to a specific level. Of course, there are plenty of options available when it comes to finding a software to warn you of any technical red flags such as missing meta data or header tags, but very few have the processing power to perform these functions on larger sites. Because seoClarity’s crawling software is so scaleable, it is very appealing to our enterprise-level clients.

Dashboards

One of our favorite things about seoClarity is its customizable dashboards. This makes performing health checks and reporting to clients tremendously easier. The dashboards provide us with powerful information such as traffic, number of URLs indexed, keyword ranking trend lines, and ongoing backlink acquisition, all in one screen. Now we can check on the health of our clients’ sites as often as we want without having to dive too deep into the data.

We also take advantage of the customizable dashboards to create transparency between our agency and our clients. By creating customized seoClarity profiles for our clients, they are able to perform their own health checks anytime they want and get some clarity (get it?) into what is going on SEO-wise. When creating profiles for our clients, we like to build out a dashboard that speaks to their KPIs. That way, they can see the success of the campaign firsthand as well as digest the information on a more understandable, relevant level.

Google Search Console & Google Analytics Integration

This one sort of ties into the customizable dashboards. But it’s so awesome we gave it its own section. seoClarity’s ability to integrate Google Analytics and the Google Search Console makes our lives a whole lot easier by giving us a one-stop-shop to see our clients’ health and data. And when we say “data”, we mean real data specific to our client’s company rather than general industry data. Using this feature, we are able to dive in and see things that are negatively or positively affect our clients’ site and develop a game plan based on the data.

Link Clarity

One of seoClarity’s features that we have just recently begun to explore more thoroughly is Link Clarity, which allows us to load in and track backlinks pointing to our clients’ domains. Using this tool, we can identify specific links to manage and monitor and receive notifications when any of those links become a 404 error or are directed to another page. Once we have this information, our SEO team works closely with our PR department to find opportunities to gain backlinks that were pointing towards us and broke or even find links we didn’t acquire but gained organically and want to maintain. We can also see our competitors’ links, which provides us with possible leads for more backlinks in the future.

Content Ideation

Anybody who has ever worked in content strategy has struggled with brainstorming new topics for a client. Sure, the first few months are easy - the creative juices are flowing and top-notch ideas seem to appear every few minutes. However, once the creative honeymoon stage has ended and it seems like you’ve already written about everything there is to write about, strategizing is just plain brutal. Not to mention implementing keyword research to ensure that you are actually writing about topics that people are interested in and search for. It turns into quite the process.

That is, until seoClarity came along. Using seoClarity’s Content Ideas tool, our content department is able to come up with relevant, compelling content ideas in seconds. Each month, our content team creates comprehensive content calendars for our clients, which outline the blog topics to be written and published in the upcoming month. Their first stop after the coffee pot is always seoClarity. Simply typing a topic into the search bar yields thousands of results sourced from web’s top sites. Suddenly an hour long brainstorming session turns into a fifteen-minute search with even better results.
